GM 3.1 V6 Reliability and Performance - Car Talk Community
The 3.1 V6 is a 60 degrees-between-the-cylinder-banks motor derived from GM’s X-car engine of 2.8 liters. The 3800 V6 is a 90 degree cylinder angle motor derived from a 60’s era V8 later sold to British Leyland and used in lots of Brit cars. They also offered a 3.4 liter version that seemed noisy and rough for no reason.
Used Rav4 V4 vs V6 - Maintenance/Repairs - Car Talk Community
The V6 only gets about 1 MPG less than the I4, yet brings another 90 HP to the table, a significant improvement for an relatively insignificant increase in fuel consumption. To me the V6 is worth it. But if you’ve always driven 4 cylinders then I suspect the I4 will be meet your expectations.

Ford Escape 2002 V6 coolant leak? - Car Talk Community
On our 2002 Escape, a few months back I asked how I might find a coolant leak. Well, the leak we had seemed to happen only once. Driving from Sacramento to Reno in a very cold snowstorm, it seems like we lost about a pint of coolant. This was right after Christmas. Fast-forward to today, and it seems like we no longer have a leak. Is it possible that something about driving in very cold temps ...
GM "Customer Satisfaction Program" Recall of 3.6L V6 Engine
I just got a “Customer Satisfaction Program” letter from GM stating that GM’s 3.6 liter V6 (the engine used in the Camaro, Saturn Outlook, LaCrosse, Cadillac CTS, and several other cars) is showing premature wear of the timing chain. A quick check of the web turns up that many who own this engine are experiencing troubles all the way up to the engine fragging. GM is offering to “change ...
Honda Accord 2010 V6 Check Engine Light - Car Talk Community
Hi Guys, So today my check engine light came on and had it checked. It says “P3400 Cylinder Deactivation System Bank 1.” I have no idea where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 2010 V6 EX-L
3.3L V6 2006 Toyota Highlander Exhaust leak - Car Talk Community
I have a 3.3L V6 2006 Toyota Highlander with an exhaust leaking at the connection shown by the red arrow in the image below. I’ve never done any exhaust work, but I’m guessing there is a gasket there that probably needs to be replaced? Is this a fairly straightforward job? I’m just not sure what that spring around the bolt is for. Also, I’ve pasted a link below with the parts view. I ...
Service engine light flashing on my 4.3L v6, 96 Chevy blazer?! Code ...
Having some trouble diagnosing this problem. Showing a P0175 : System too rich @ Bank 1. I’ve checked for vacuum leaks with no luck finding one. Service engine light started flashing at idle and now is on again. Any suggestions would be great. Some one told me to start with the Fuel pressure regulator. Would this be the way to go? Thanks guys!
2005 Honda Accord V6 - Power Steering issues - Car Talk Community
The power steering on my car is failing intermittently. There is no secret thing to do to make it fail. It’s mostly at low/no speed like when pulling into a parking spot. Thus far, I have had the pump replaced twice, pressure valve switch, and the rack and pinion replaced. My mechanic of 10 years is stumped as to what is happening. Any insight or advice?
Is the Lexus 2.4L I-4 port/direct injection, DOHC, Dual VVT-i variable ...
There is a lot more to look at power wise then just the HP numbers, example, the 2016-2023 Tacoma 3.5L V6 has 278 hp @ 6000 rpm and 265 lb.-ft. @ 4600 rpm, that is a lot of rpms to get up to in the torque range, it doesn’t start pulling hard until 3000ish rpms, not much below 2000 rpms, but for the 2024 Tacoma’s, no more V6, but the little 2.4L turbo puts out the same HP with 278 hp @ 6000 ...
